INTRODUCTION

By the time I noticed it, spring was already halfway over. The chocolate shelf had completely changed into its new-season lineup, but I still had one thing I absolutely needed to do first.

I had to write this review.

Without it, my spring simply could not begin.

This time, I managed to get my hands on some remaining circulation stock of Lotte Premium Ghana Truffle <Caramel Mariage>, an autumn-winter limited item from the Premium Ghana line.

At the moment, it is no longer visible in Lotte’s current Premium Ghana lineup page, where newer seasonal items are now featured instead. So it is reasonable to say this product is in a remaining-stock-only kind of phase now.

I was lucky enough to find it, so this time I am going to review it properly.

Packaging

The moment I picked up the box, the first thing I felt was quality.

The design uses the deep red that feels typical of the Ghana series, with a brilliant gold embossed logo pressed into the surface. That combination is one of the visual signatures of the Premium Ghana line. Lotte’s official Premium Ghana branding presents the line as a reward-style chocolate range built around a more luxurious experience, and this package absolutely looks the part.

The whole design expresses a warm, sweet atmosphere in a refined way that truly suits the word premium. It looks good enough that I could easily imagine giving it as a gift.

On the front, caramel that looks slightly scorched is melting together with cream. It is the kind of image that almost says, “If you are not going to eat this, then what are you going to eat?” It is visually delicious all by itself.

The content is 49g. Even though the box is compact enough to fit comfortably in the palm of my hand, when I open it, the truffles are lined up neatly inside, and that alone makes me smile. Lotte’s release information and retailer listings both confirm the 49g size.

A faint dusting of cocoa powder covers the surface, and from the moment I look at them, the chocolates already give off a serious truffle atmosphere.

The surface texture is dry and soft-looking, and when I touch it, a little cocoa powder stays lightly on my fingers. Their rounded, gently plump shape really is exactly what you want from something called a truffle. They have the kind of appearance that raises excitement just by being there.

Taste & Texture

Now this is where the real heart of the review begins.

The instant I bring one piece into my mouth, the first thing that spreads is the soft, toasty fragrance of caramel. It is not simply sweet. There is also a slightly bitter nuance folded into it. This is the moment where the outer layer, which Lotte describes as Ghana Black with scorched caramel, is clearly doing its job. Lotte’s release and retailer product descriptions both explain that the outer layer uses a caramel-accented Ghana black chocolate as part of the three-layer design.

When I bite into it, the first thing I meet is the outer chocolate shell. It is a little firmer than the center, but once it is in the mouth, the melt is excellent.

The caramel’s faint bitterness and the cacao presence feel so complete that I honestly think this outer layer alone could be sold as its own product.

If I had to describe it in one line, I might even call it:

the magic of the Maillard reaction.

Then the smooth middle layer appears.

This middle layer is what the product descriptions identify as a premium Ghana caramel milk layer. It brings refined sweetness, milky richness, and the flavor of caramel together into a luxurious aftertaste. Lotte’s official release describes the product as a 3-layer truffle where the roasted aroma of scorched caramel, the elegant sweetness of creamy caramel, and Ghana’s rich melt are all enjoyed together.

And finally, at the center, I meet the melting Ghana milk core.

It spreads across the mouth with a texture like a small ganache, smooth and creamy. Each of the three layers has its own role, and what impresses me most is how the flavor keeps developing from the first bite all the way to the last aftertaste without becoming boring.

One bite, then let it melt.
This chocolate offers that kind of luxury.

This really is remarkable.

Faced with wave after wave of melting chocolate and caramel, there is nothing I can do except stay silent and enjoy the phenomenon of the chocolate slowly dissolving in my mouth.

The cocoa powder on the outside adds just the slightest bitter accent, and that helps keep the overall sweetness beautifully in balance. When people online praised it as a multi-layered flavor that does not feel like ordinary convenience-store chocolate, that praise made complete sense to me once I tasted it. Retail descriptions also frame it as a layered premium truffle built around that caramel-and-Ghana progression.

The ingredient list also includes hazelnut paste, and I can believe it. It seems to give the whole experience an extra nutty depth and richness. The sweetness of caramel, the bitterness of cacao, and the softness of hazelnut come together like a three-part harmony inside the mouth.

Honestly, this may be in a different class from most convenience-store chocolate.

Dietary Info

For anyone concerned about allergies or dietary restrictions, here is the official-style information gathered from the package details you provided and corroborated by retailer listings where possible.

The allergens listed in the raw materials are milk, soy, and macadamia nut. The package also states that this product is manufactured on shared equipment with products containing egg, wheat, and almond, so anyone with allergies should check carefully before eating. The retailer listing also supports the presence of milk and soy-derived emulsifier in the product concept and ingredients.

The emulsifier is listed, and in this context it is typically soy-based in Ghana products, though your package wording remains the strongest source here.

There is no listed gelatin, alcohol, or lard in the ingredient statement you provided. Vegetarians and vegans should of course note that the product contains milk ingredients.

Important Notes
This is an autumn-winter limited product.

If exposed to high temperatures, the chocolate may melt and the fat may later solidify into a white appearance. It is still safe to eat, but the flavor may be reduced.

The content is managed by weight. Depending on the weight of each piece, there may occasionally be fewer than 8 pieces.

Due to temperature changes, the cocoa powder on the surface may appear darker.

Please consume as soon as possible after opening.

Final Thoughts
If you still come across it somewhere, it is absolutely worth checking before it disappears completely. This is one of those seasonal chocolates that feels easy to miss, but hard to forget once you have tasted it.
