Baby Star Ramen Blue Umasio Flavor – Lawson Limited Edition Review

Baby Star Ramen Lawson Limited Edition Blue Umasio Flavor Review – Japanese Snack by Oyatsu Company

Introduction

This article reviews Baby Star Ramen Limited Edition Blue Umasio Flavor.

Lawson recently celebrated its 50th anniversary. To mark the occasion, Lawson launched a campaign called “Blue Fair that Brings Happiness.”

As part of this campaign, several blue-themed collaboration products were released nationwide at Lawson stores starting February 24, 2026.
This Baby Star Ramen Blue Umasio Flavor is one of those limited items.

Packaging

Looking at the front of the package, a metallic blue background stands out. The character Hoshio-kun, wearing blue clothes, is printed on the package along with a photo of the blue Baby Star Ramen.

When I saw the product at Lawson, several blue snacks were lined up together on the shelf as part of the campaign. Seeing that many blue products at once was slightly intimidating, but I bought it anyway.

It is surprising to see the flagship snack of Oyatsu Company turn this blue.

Since this is a review, I will write my honest impression:
it does not look particularly appetizing.

Hoshio-kun on the package says something like “The noodles turned blue!?”
But he also changed into blue clothes himself.

Inside the Package

When I opened the bag and looked inside, something rather unusual appeared.

Blue food usually does not bother me too much. For example, blue ice cream is something I am already used to seeing.

However, blue Baby Star Ramen noodles feel a little strange, maybe even slightly unsettling.

Still, this is Baby Star Ramen from Oyatsu Company, one of the most famous snack brands in Japan.

So it should taste good once you eat it.
Probably.

Appearance

The noodles are clearly blue, which creates a very unusual appearance for this type of snack.

When placed on a plate, the color becomes even more noticeable.

Taste & Texture

I decided to put the noodles on a plate and try them.

At first, the visual effect makes them feel slightly difficult to eat because the color is unfamiliar.

However, the taste itself is perfectly fine and quite enjoyable. As expected from Oyatsu Company.

A quick note about the flavor name “Umasio.”

The word literally means “delicious salty flavor with umami.” It refers to a savory salt seasoning rather than simple saltiness. Because of that, it might be helpful to check the ingredient list as well.

I tried eating the snack again with my eyes closed.

When you remove the visual impression and focus only on the taste and texture, it simply feels like normal, tasty Baby Star Ramen.

I kept eating like that for a while.

By the time I opened my eyes again and continued eating normally, the bag was already about half empty.

In the end, the result was exactly what I expected from the beginning.

It was simply good Baby Star Ramen.

For reference, the blue color comes from a natural food coloring called gardenia blue pigment, which is considered safe for consumption.
